Caterham sevens are like a go-kart with a bhp-per-tonne figure that can terrify a hypercar. A Caterham is fundamentally a two-seat tub with wheels, stripped, and spartan. It remains a seminal driving experience for those interested in driving rather than simply traveling. It delivers classic British sports car thrills and blistering pace. All Sevens are open-top two-seaters, although you can specify the car in either narrow or wide-body form if you want a little more space. The Seven is a featherweight, tipping the scales in its lightest form at just 540kg. Even the base 270 version has the pace of a true sports car, delivering 135bhp from its 1.6-liter engine and sprinting from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds. Even the entry-level Seven still boasts incredible agility, and responsiveness to flicks of the small steering wheel quickly and precisely.

COVID-19 has made us all think carefully about what is essential. I would say experiences and creating them. Caterham cars provide one of the best life experiences you can get. Full stop. The car has a center of gravity that is barely higher than the surface which you traverse. A result is a machine that drives utterly differently from any conventional car. Driving pleasure is all about the way the car feels – its handling, its ability to interpret and faithfully execute your instructions immediately. Precision is the name of the game here. The ability to see the front wheel, so that you can perfectly place the car on the apex of a curve and the immediacy of every input, make you feel more connected to the road than in any other car I have ever driven. In a word, the driving experience is sublime and you are immediately hooked. Taking a Caterham down country B-roads is the best place for it.

My Caterham Roadsport 7 VVC had a 150 bhp engine and went from a standstill to sixty miles per hour in five seconds! My Caterham was finished in British racing green with a yellow bonnet stripe. These are traditional English racing colors. It was beautifully addictive. Here is another picture of it. I have included a Youtube video at the bottom to show you just how brilliant these cars are. If you are interested in buying one, Caterham has a fabulous configurator that lets you specify every aspect of your order. For more information, please do contact me.
